6 changes later temp went down and water pump seal quite peeein.
Full of rust, rocks and birds and that was fresh juice. 10 hours later it is cold? Remove filter, Cut it apart.
Install a antifreeze filter if it does not have one. Most of those old ones needed it done to clean all the junk out from the tubes in them. Probably need to remove rad and side tanks to rod the rad. Rad fan blades turned the correct way? Our D6C has fan blades that can be turned so that air is being blown over the engine or sucked off the engine depending on air temperature. If you end up needing a new core, is a good source. Is the torque converter running high on temp? (assuming this is a powershift )Ĭheck out the condition of the fan, belts, pullys, and rad shroud seals. Most likely the core needs cleaned or replaced but sometimes the water pump impellers can get loose and don't pump.Ĭheck to be sure you're not getting bubbling in rad from a bad head gasket. Maybe you need it rodded out, mine wasn't rod able stuff was stuck to hard. My D6D, approx same age was doing that very same thing, even just driving it across the field it was on the edge of the red, a new radiator fixed it. Very possible the rad was dirty at one time, causing it to overheat, and messed up a head on the engine. Check it with a heat gun or by feel to see if there are hot and cold spots indicating a plugged core. If not, then I would be looking at the radiator. Some older equipment used shutters in front of the radiator to control the temp and your may not need a stat. Is it supposed to have a stat in it? If so, then I would put one in it and try that. Any help? What should I try next, thermostat? Any clue where I can get one? Pressure washed the radiator, which wasn't bad, drained all the coolant and flushed the system, it did not have a thermostat and I did not put one in, however, it stills runs up to the red after about twenty or thirty minutes. After pushing with it, the temp gauge starts to push to the red, so I idle it down and let it cool. It sat for three years but was well maintained, the fluids looked good except for coolant which was low, but looked super good.
I recently bought a D7 Corp of Engineers dozer with winch.
